(THE FEATURED PIC IS AN EXAMPLE BEARHAWK5….OURS IS NOT QUITE THAT FAR ALONG!)
Amazon Salt and Light is a mission to “take the gospel further faster” in the Brazilian Amazon region. The aviation team of Salt and Light participates in the mission by assisting with the airplane part of the ministry. This group is made up of about 10 aviation enthusiasts who are interested in helping people learn about the promises of Jesus. Since there are few roads in this part of Brazil, travel is by boat on the numerous rivers or even more efficiently– by airplane and preferably one with floats!
Amazon Salt and Light is located currently on the Madera river system. The forward prayer and planning being done by the board is to move to the next main river system further west (deeper into the interior of Brazil). The purpose of this is to place and provide support to another group of Brazilian believers who are ready to bring the gospel message to people who have yet to hear of Christ’s hope and purpose. To accomplish this Amazon Salt and Light needs another airplane, numerous boats, and a group of 10-20 Brazilian workers who are called to take the message. Our aviation group- along with numerous generous donors- have purchased a kit to build a new airplane called a Bearhawk.
This is a 4-5 passenger airplane that will be outfitted with floats. The plane is purchased in kit form (think Ikea!) which means 50% of the plane is already built. Our aviation team will construct the remaining 50% which is about a 2 year process. The building team will pray that God will make sure the plane is ready to go precisely when the Amazon Salt and Light group is ready to go deeper into the Amazon” to take the gospel farther faster”. This will all happen in Dan Koster’s shop at Sterling Illinois.’
We welcome any help prayers and donations on this project. Check out the fun video on the day we received the bearhawk kit.
